I'm disappointed to hear that DPS is not using traditional manilla "government style" envelopes to mail the licenses in. Someone had posted that they are arriving in non- descript plain white envelopes. The traditional bureaucratic envelope with a clear lucite window to display the mailing address certainly catches ones attention easier. Now I feel compelled to shake out every catalog and even to flip diligently through others (especially the Victoria's Secret catalog) just to make sure the little plastic gem is not embedded within one of them.
It seems that everything gun related takes so much time. I ordered a new holster the other day and they told me it would take 16 weeks to arrive (though they charged my credit card the same day). What the hell I said - I wont have my CHL by then so what's the difference. It does only take a few minutes to blow through 30 bucks of ammo at the range though.
I guess all is not lost!

Re: License received in plain white envelopes?
The new (as of last month, at least) envelopes no longer have the clear address window for your license to show through but they do have the DPS return address.
