9mm vs 38 special

Question: Has anyone interchanged 9mm and .38 special bullets when reloading.

It appears 9mm = .354" and .38 special = .357"......... looks like in a pinch, considering the weight difference, you could use the 9mm bullet in a .38 cartridge /wheel gun with a little blow-by if that's all you had available?? Might make a usable round....

Not considering for daily usage.....unless 9mm bullets are a lot cheaper than .38/.357 copper jackets.

I tried it once. Accuracy was horrible and it really fouled the bore. As long as your not shooting at anything smaller than an elephant and more than 20 ft away....

A waste of reloading components in my opinion. Of course, your mileage may vary.

I was afraid it might come out spinning like a bad football pass. I expected the accuracy of my Daisy b-b gun...or a deringer.....can't think of any avantage to doing it, unless you couldn't find any .38 bullets and had to have some ammo....

I have a Blackhawk with both 9mm and 38/357mag cylinders. I consider it a bad idea that got worse. With the 9mm cylinder accuracy just went out the window. It was so bad I put the 9mm cylinder up and have no intentions of ever using it again. Not only was the accuracy bad, I had major issues with my reloads getting stuck in the cylinder.

Thanks for comment. My thought was using the 9 bullet in a .38 special case, in a Blackhawk....almost back to smooth bore accuracies is what sounds like, if it makes it out of the bore without getting lodged....Just goes to prove there is very little original thought......at least at my house
