Officer down, USP Atwater

Whether the need is great or small, there is power in prayer, especially when God's people raise their voices together.

Officer down, USP Atwater

Post by KBCraig »

An officer has been stabbed to death at the U.S. Penitentiary in Atwater, California. He leaves behind a wife and unborn child.

http://www.mercedsunstar.com/167/story/315405.html

He is the 24th BOP staff to be killed in the line of duty in over a century, and the third during my career. The last was Officer Scott Williams in April 1997, at USP Lompoc.

We've had 4 officers stabbed so far this year just in the South-Central Region (two at Beaumont, two at Pollock, LA). There was another at Big Sandy, KY, and possibly others I'm forgetting. We've been warning the administration that the staffing cuts, increased inmate population, and increased rate of serious assaults all meant this was going to happen, and now it has.

Prayers for all concerned are greatly appreciated.

Prayers for the downed BOP officers, and for those who still stand and perform a vital but difficult job.

Lord I pray for these brave men and women who need your strength and protection, and I lift up this family...only your love and peace can help in a situation like this.
