In the case of CC, I would agree with you; however for OC I disagree; you want a thumbbreak, pushbutton etc to discourage grabs by BGs and smart-alecks alike, as well as simply to keep it in the holster when you're not right-side up and vertical.

The subject was for a tuckable holster, so the question had nothing to do with OC.

The reasons you give are not reasons to have a retention holster, but reasons why we should never have OC.

Here ya go...I have the split decision and find it works well for my XD...a 1911 would absolutely disappear in it.

I wouldn't put it in the same class as the Milt Sparks or the Tucker, but it is stockable, and HighNoon Holsters are a good group to deal with.

Thanks for the input on High Noon. The definately look like a possibility. I only wished that they had two belt attachment clamps, instead of one. I really like the wrap around effect that having those two points give. But I suppose it's something I could deal with.

Those are some very nice holster, but also carry a premium price. Not sure I want to dump $350 on a holster and mag carrier. But they sure are purty to look at.

Some background on this request. I work in a professional environment that is lots of dress slacks and button down tucked in shirts. I plan on carrying when my plastic arrives, but the only holster I have (Don Hum IWB) is not tuckable. I only paid $30 at a gun show so I don't expect much it. So I'm looking for a short term tuckable solution that I can get now in preparation for my plastic to arrive. Then I will go ahead and get on the long waiting lists at one of the custome holster makers and have a nice holster made. But I would like to have a tuckable solution that will allow me to carry while I am waiting for my custom holster to be made.

While I'm sure Kydex (fancy word for plastic IMO) is fine, I do prefer the look, feel, and smell (aaah yes the wonderful smell of leather) of all leather holsters.

Considering the added background, and accompanying dress code, you might find yourself better suited with a SmartCarry while at work. I have tried several tuckable holsters, and so far, slacks and a dress shirt without a jacket just don't seem to conceal well enough for me to not be nervous about getting made. Getting made would result in losing my job, so for me, it's the SmartCarry and my Kimber Ultra or Ruger LCP. I also find that I can draw much, much faster with a SmartCarry than with a tuckable holster. Untucking shirt, holding shirt aside, getting grip, and drawing is a lot more work than using my left thumb to pull my belt out a little bit.

For your custom holster, velcro clips with a velcro sided belt will be just about a must with your dress code depending upon what consequences there would be if you got made.

But for a in stock, short term solution, and to add another possibility for concealment(like when you go to the beach), a smartcarry might be a wise investment.
