"Ees gun! Ees not safe!"
Re: Man accidentally kills pregnant wife while cleaning gun
They should have titled the story "Man Negligently Kills Pregnant Wife While Cleaning Gun". Everytime I read a story like this in the news it makes me really angry - there is absolutely no reason for people to die in this manner. I am seriously begining to think there should be some sort of mandatory safety training as a condition of purchasing a firearm.

Farm accidents claim about 200-300 children's lives and cause thousands of injuries annually.Jason73 wrote:I am seriously begining to think there should be some sort of mandatory safety training as a condition of purchasing a firearm.
[sarcasm]We should create a program to mandate licensing and training before people can purchase tractors and other farm implements.[/sarcasm]

This story doesn't sound right to me.

The difference is you dont have groups of powerful lobbbyists trying to ban the sale of farm implements on the basis they kill innocent people.drw wrote:Farm accidents claim about 200-300 children's lives and cause thousands of injuries annually.Jason73 wrote:I am seriously begining to think there should be some sort of mandatory safety training as a condition of purchasing a firearm.

So because we have enemies working against our rights, we should start to restrict our rights themselves?Jason73 wrote:The difference is you dont have groups of powerful lobbbyists trying to ban the sale of farm implements on the basis they kill innocent people.

Re: Man accidentally kills pregnant wife while cleaning gun
How do you clean a loaded gun? I think it's more likely he was playing with it and recklessly killed his wife and unborn child.
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

Im going to start a new thread on this topic instead of hijacking this one, see you theredrw wrote:So because we have enemies working against our rights, we should start to restrict our rights themselves?Jason73 wrote:The difference is you dont have groups of powerful lobbbyists trying to ban the sale of farm implements on the basis they kill innocent people. That line of thinking is wrong-headed. We should be fighting against restrictions, not suggesting new ones ourselves.

Grandpa taught two things about guns...
Guns are ALWAYS loaded & never point at anything you don't want DEAD
He said that even if you're cleaning the gun, if you treat it like it's loaded, then it can't go off when it's not supposed to & if it does, it'll kill what you wanted killed anyway.

I agree, and apparently so does the local sheriff's department where the incident occurred. They're now reportedly investigating it as a homicide:This story doesn't sound right to me.

Fox news listed the original "accidental" shooting just above the following article where someone who probably won't be recruited to design propulsion systems for NASA anytime soon managed to shoot both herself and her husband with a .44 magnum while alleging attempting to dispatch mice:

I don't buy that one either. However, it is notable that with the original spin, they will very likely reinforce the hoplophobic fears of the ignorant (which is pretty easy to do) and make a couple hundred million gun owners look bad by association on the national news.
I'm sure the timing of these two clearly national interest level stories had nothing to do with the recent Heller decision......

Hello,
The local new reports: http://www.wftv.com/news/16817263/detail.html
" Enio Abreu was previously charged with a felony for forging a passport in 1992 and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in 1997. A few years later he was caught with a gun while soliciting a prostitute. The crimes were committed in Miami Dade County The local news reports "
May the woman and child rest in peace, with the lord.
The husband should rest in the other place.
