Kydex Clips

Post by TDDude »

I've been using a Tucker Heritage Special for about 7 years. It is my primary holster when I have everything working.

The complaint is that the Kydex clips really only last about 6-9 months. I have a Galco gun belt and the action of pulling the holster on and off wears out the clip. The clip basically breaks apart.

The problem is that I can't find any replacements. The good folks at Shiloh happen to be CompTac dealers so a few weeks ago I went looking down there. They don't stock them but a set was found in the wrong color and so I made them work. I recieved a heavily discounted price for which I was greatful. I just have to figure out a way to paint them so they match my belt. I can't tuck my shirt in because the brown clips would clash against my black belt. These new clips are also not as wide as all the others I've found so perhaps they will last longer.

Many, Many thanks to Shiloh in helping my out but my question is am I the only one this is happening to? I find it hard to believe that there is no market for replacement clips. I don't think I'm being too rough with them. The clips have to be spread apart slightly so the holser can be removed from the belt and that action eventually breaks the clip.

Perhaps there is a shop in the Northwest Houston area that does stock them and I just haven't found it yet.

Clips don't seem to be brand specific. Rather they appear to be sourced from a few manufacturers, and then used in building holsters. You might try Comp-Tac's various clips:

Ø resist

Take away the second first, and the first is gone in a second.

When Kydex usually fails, it's usually dramatic.

You can get them from Tucker.

Maybe you can get some leather straps and fix them to the Kydex?
I have some rubber straps with one way snaps that might work. found here: http://blade-tech.com/IWB-Pull-the-dot- ... r-843.html

These folks have clips as well.

Maybe you could thread the belt through the clips when you gear up, without the gun in the holster, and only use the clips when unthreading the belt is not an option.

If you contact Rob Longenecker with Tucker, there's a good chance he would send you some, maybe even free.

Tucker used to use the clips offered by Comp-Tac. I'm not sure if they still do or not. Comp-Tac switched to their new style late last year. The new style has significantly better durability. The thinner style also lends to more concealment, and the greater number of holes provide for more specific adjustment of the cant and depth of the holster.
