Austin working the holiday weekend?

Post by CHLDave »

I am an August applicant, just mailed my application on Thursday (overnight), and saw via USPS tracking that it was delivered on time on Friday.... So, of course.... I immediately check the DPS website to see a change in status :smilelol5: but as expected it still said, Application mailed. And of course, I even checked yesterday (saturday), and it still reported Application mailed. So it's Sunday, holiday weekend, I'm checking email online, googling info/discussion on my new XD9 compact that I just purchased at a gun show for a great price (not relevant to my post, just sayin... :hurry: ), so I check my status again, and holy smokes it says, Processing Application!

Now, there can many technical reasons for the timing of that update showing up on a Sunday on a holiday weekend, but if Austin truly does have people working this weekend, then I have to say I'm delightfully impressed :thumbs2: and I hope that is a(nother) sign of their commitment to resolve this big backlog...

...And of course, I expect to check tomorrow, on Labor Day, and see my status changed to Approved, with special instructions for over night delivery, with a nice card signed by everyone involved "rlol"

Nice. Go to www.xdtalk.com for some good forums on the XD. I have the XD-40 sub-compact and love it, and with the Crossbreed SuperTuck holster it is a great concealment piece. I've read a lot of great reviews of SA and their customer service and my next gun will most likely be a SA TRP 1911.

I drove by DPS HQ today (Sept 1) and the parking lot looked pretty empty.

I dropped my renewal application off in person in late July and it took a month until my status changed to "Processing Application." It's still sitting there now. :grumble

And YOURS went to "Processing" in just a couple of days?

Hurry out and buy a lotto ticket while your luck is running hot!
Original CHL: 2000: 56 day turnaround
1st renewal, 2004: 34 days
2nd renewal, 2008: 81 days
3rd renewal, 2013: 12 days

Yeah, I was pleseantly surprised at how quick the status changed. My guess is it's a result of the DPS trying to do the right thing and increase 'processing output' based on the increased demand.

And yet again, in direct conflict with my better judgement, I did check again today  , and it still said 'Processing application'... I guess my window of opportunity to buy a power ball, lotto, and Subway scrable 'something or other' ticket has expired and I must report to work tomorrow instead of the Alaskan cruise checkin counter "rlol" .

Yeah, only took slightly over 100 days for mine to go from Mailed to ..ah.. Screwed Up. Nice to see that they are making an effort to update the status site.
