These kind of stories make me want to scream! :mad5
What in the world is wrong with these kind of people. Telling a two year old not to touch something, to him it means go for it! I just can not understand it! :banghead:

What disturbs me here is that stories like this describing gross negligence with firearms are picked up on the national news, while stories of legitimate defense by armed citizens are buried in the local media only. The effect is to create a national media climate where it appears that all firearm related incidents are negative for the good guys, when nothing could be further from the truth.

This pattern is so consistent that I would have a real hard time believing that it does not have deliberation and purpose behind it.

The root of the problem is, (lack of) common sense. It can't happen to me, that's somebody elses responsibility, etc.

Another easily preventable death and I hope the parents receive the maximum penalty in court.
I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961

Exactly, that is why it upsets me so because the liberal media will grab it an run with it, and like you said... a legitimate defense by armed citizens are buried... the only place where you will find them is in the American Rifleman!

This was reported as a firearms story instead of a parenting story which it actually is. It's the equivalent of a mother "warning" her two year old not to go into the street just before he does so and gets hit by a car.

:iagree:
It is a cliche that most cliches are true, but then like most cliches, that cliche is untrue.
