Question: Is the online status check connected to the database in realtime, or is it batch updated overnite? Meaning does the status show up in the instant after an update on the webpage, or does it only make sense to check once a day? (I know a lot of folks will say only check once a day no matter what. You'll drive yourself crazy.)
Thanks!
Online status check update time?

Re: Online status check update time?
Welcome to the forum.
The web site can lag by a long time -- days. People have reported getting their license in the mail while the web site still says "Processing application."
It also goes the other way. Some people have reported that the web site says "license issued or certificate active," and it took another couple of weeks to receive the plastic in the mail.
The web site also gets updated at odd times. Some people have reported that it changed between Saturday night and Sunday morning. That leads me to speculate that it's either an automated batch job or done overseas.
I guess the bottom line is that it's about as accurate as a horoscope.

Re: Online status check update time?
I hate to sound like a pessamist, but I am of the age where I remember the old days where at the grocery stores, the check-out clerk had to punch each price in manually, instead of just scanning. Well, I see check-out clerks today, armed with state of the art technology and tools/software to make everything efficient and speedy, constantly drifting off, looking everywhere except at what they are doing, talking to the cute sacker, etc. We are in the days of looking at putting men on other planets! Technology advances are only good if they are utilized properly. Heckfire, the old day manual check-out clerks were twice as fast as they are today, and sacker used to know how to sack (don't put my raw chicken in with my milk please). What does that have to do with the topic?? Well, to BUY a handgun, certain checks are done over the phone, usually in 5-10 minutes. I realize other background areas have to be checked as well, but I garauntee you we don't have human bodies manually searching through aisles of hardcopy archives to get information. It's the human factor that makes this process so slow. How many cups of coffee does it take to process 1 application?? Oh, your daughter graduated last week????? Let's do lunch to celebrate.......oh, I forgot, I have this unprocessed application I have to get done by the end of the week. No worries, I'm not supervised.
Get my drift....???????? Vent, bad air out, good air in.....thanks.....

Re: Online status check update time?
The online update on something must be pretty quick. Mine went to "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active" sometime on the 16th. I received a call from DPS with an update saying it shows to be submitted to mail on the 16th.
The issue they have is that there is no way per DPS that they can tell who is working the application. Which is crazy in this day and age. They should be able to tell exactly who has th application and at what stage it is in.
