Need help finding IWB Holster for XD .45 4'' Service Model

Post by DONT TREAD ON ME »

I am new to the whole CHL experience. I just got my CHL last week. I applied for my CHL in April and have been looking for a good IWB holster since then. I am looking at the Comp-Tac Minataur MTAC. Are there any suggestions to other IWB holsters? Or do any of you have the MTAC and if so could you let me know what you think of it? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

I know everyone will recommend the Comp Tac Holsters, but I cannot comment on them as I have not used them at all. But what I can recommend is the Bare Asset or Split Decision by High Noon Holsters. The prices are great and the quality is far superior then the price would appear to show. I love them and have both for my Glock 23 and XD .45 4". I can't speak highly enough about these holsters. They are comfortable and for the price, they can't be beat!

I believe someone here recommended them and I thank them! I'll be buying more!

I have the MTAC. I sold a Sparks VM-II after I bought the MTAC. I carry an XD45 in it. I love it.

I'm waiting for the MTAC for my XD40 4" Service model. I received an e-mail yesterday that they were shipping it. I got a call from my wife this afternoon that I had a package from Comp-Tac in the mailbox

Man, this day at the office is dragging now :totap:

Well, this is the most comfortable IWB holster I've tried for the 4" XD, and the leather has not yet even had the chance to break in. This thing ROCKS!

I have to Comp-Tac holsters for my XD45-Compact--the MTAC and the 2 O'Clock. They fit well, although the leather side of the MTAC doesn't quite cover up the trigger guard area. I didn't hear back from them with my email about it so I was a bit disappointed with the customer service, but I don't really think it is an issue.

I really, really like the 2 o'clock model, but appendix carry doesn't work well for everyone. For me, it works well if I know I'm not going to be sitting much (perhaps I should lose a few pounds ;-) ).

Generally, though, I find myself just slipping my PM9 into my front pocket (in a Nemesis holster).

camjr,
I actually ordered the MTAC this weekend. I got an e-mail yesterday saying it was being shipped so I am hoping I get it in the mail soon. I am leaving for Maryland for three weeks and wont be able to carry there. If it doesnt come in before the trip it will be the longest trip ever. Glad you like yours...makes me even more excited!

Wildscar,
I want to really thank you. I read your review late last week. I have asked this question on a couple forums and have been advised on the MTAC multiple times. After I read your review is when I decided to go ahead and get it. I was looking for somethign in depth on the holster and that was what you provided. So I thank you. I bought it with the C-Clips and a left and right handed body so that I can carry in the SOB if I so desire. Thanks again! :cheers2:

Thanks for the compliment and I am glad I could help. One thing however, I Would check with CompTac about the left and right handed holster bodys. To carry with the left handed body might require a left handed leather side also.

got the MTAC in last night...I LOVE IT...so far. Its comfortable and lightweight. The leather did not need any breaking in at all. Thanks for all the advice everyone. I think I made a great choice with your help!
