This day in history - October 23

1983 - In Beirut, Lebanon, suicide bombers killed 241 U.S. Marines and Army and Navy personnel who had been stationed there as a peacekeeping force. Separate, simultaneous attacks killed 58 French soldiers.

Within the next six months, all international forces had been withdrawn from Lebanon. The country's civil war stewed for another six years.

Let us not forget these men who did their duty and gave the last full measure of devotion. :patriot:
