Until this morning. I took my older son in because he hasn't been feeling well (bronchitis), and talked to the doctor about getting a flu shot, as well. I made a crack about getting my son shot, but then said, "No, the only shooting that needs to be done is at the range when we go together." The doctor turned to me, looked me in the eyes and asked, "Do you have a CHL?"
I thought for a moment and decided to be honest, "Yes, Sir, I do."
His response was, "So do I. At least as of a few days ago. How long have you had yours?"
We talked for a little bit about why we felt we needed to get our CHL's, but I feel better than ever about my sons' pediatrician!
In the case where you aren't expecting something that will require you to uncover your CCW, so you carry into your (unposted) doctor's office, and have to expose your weapon, I think you should ask for some privacy as you change and again as you re-dress. Hide your CCW in the clothes you take off and never let it out of your sight. And stand close enough to the door that you can block it from being opened until you're concealed again. Or, either 1) pocket carry or 2) make an excuse to go to your car to secure your CCW.
