This is why I carry
This makes me sick to my stomach.....
Houstonian charged with 2 deaths in Kroger parking lot
A 20-year-old Houston man has been charged with killing two people in a Kroger parking lot in Fort Bend County.
Terence Andrus was arrested in New Orleans on Nov. 7 and charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. He was returned to the Harris County Jail and charged with murder.
Investigators said Avelino Saucedo Diaz, 31, of Sugar Land, suffered a gunshot wound as he waited for his wife in the supermarket's parking lot in the 9300 block of Texas 6 late on Oct. 15. He later died.
Moments later Kim Phuong Bui, 49, of Sugar Land, was also shot in the same parking lot during what investigators called an attempted carjacking. Bui's husband drove her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Andrus is being held on $1.05 million bail.

Now how did a 20-year-old get a handgun and ammunition? We all know there are laws against that!
This is what the gun-grabbers never seem to get. Gun laws (or any laws for that matter) don't stop people who are intent on breaking the law anyway. They only stop the people who won't break the law, but might be able to legally stop those bad guys/gals.

Remember, in a life-or-death situation, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

This is why I carry in the boondocks of Louisiana. Too many mental cases and methamphetamine types out and about these days.

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
--Thomas Jefferson, quoting Cesare Beccaria in On Crimes and Punishment (1764).
I used this in a speech regarding concealed carry on college campus. It was quite well-received. Especially when asked by someone, "Why would you want to carry? I don't think I would feel very safe if you had a gun in here." I responded with, "What if we had a Code Maroon right now saying that a gunman began shooting people in this building. Wouldn't it be nice if I had my pistol on me in that case? Would you feel safer knowing that I had the capability to stop whatever came through that door? Especially since that door would be the only way out of this room."
That more or less changed the opinion of everyone in the class. I have received many a couple emails asking how I got CHL certified, and from people asking me if I would take them shooting.

Re: This is why I carry
This is why I park in the remote/vacant areas of parking lots and also why I rarely ever park if I'm just waiting on the wifey to pick up some milk - I just cruise around in circles until everyone looks at me like I'm up to no good, then I just smile and keep on circling..
So if they found this guy in LA and he did this in H-town, it sounds like he is just one of the many Katrina evacuees who have made H-town their new home away from home (or is it the other way around now)? You know the group I'm talking about, I'm talking about these folks: http://houstonstrategies.blogspot.com/2 ... uston.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Very refreshing to see someone in college not letting the usual leftist, shall we say, 'stuff' change their way of thinking. Not surprising that it would come from a fellow Aggie!FightinAggieCHL wrote:"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Works like a charm. It's actually a VERY good way to meet them. I'm giving another speech on the topic tomorrow. It should be interesting.Morgan wrote:Sounds like a great way to meet girls. :) Not that there's ANYTHING wrong with that...FightinAggieCHL wrote:That more or less changed the opinion of everyone in the class. Re: This is why I carry
Really bad, but as worse is that we as carry the stigma for the BG's crimes. ie...guns are bad and those that carry must be bad.
