Time to look for a holster...

Post by Bunkins »

I've been browsing holsters for my Kimber Ultra Carry 2, I see a lot that I like, it's my body shape I'm worried about....

I'm 6'4 and 175 LBS, I'm toned with no body fat, but either way at 6'4 and 175 LBS I'm built more like a toothpick than anything. I've been placing the gun behind my waistband trying to get a feel for what would work best.. The only locations I can wear it is in the 11 and 1 o clock position's. On top of it, the gun will have to ride low. The butt of the gun can only stick up about 1'' to 1 1/2''s.. Not ideal I know, but I have to work around that.. I'd like to find a leather IWB holster that has some adjustment, if there is such a thing.

I was worried about the gun size verses my body type, but there are several reason's I went with a .45.. For one, the people I have trouble with ( I've been attacked several times, I've been lucky enough to have time to get a gun out of a desk at work ) are often strung out on something. I wanted the knock down power. Not to mention living on a ranch, and doing a lot of trail riding where Mountain Lion's and BobCats roam, I wanted a large caliber gun. I often carry a rifle while on the ranch, but where I trail ride, they frown on you carrying a rifle. Otherwise I would have gone with a smaller gun...

At work, I will have to wear a shoulder rig. No doubt about it. I'm a mechanic, and loose clothes are dangerous. Work related issues is 80% of the reason I'm getting my CHL. I'm looking for something that would be comfortable for a 60-70 hr work week.

From the reading I've done, I realize it is very much a personal preference, I'm just looking for a IWB holster that lets the gun ride low, and a shoulder rig that's going to hold up to abuse, but at the same time not drive me to hate it.. I have looked at several holsters, for IWB it's hard to tell if one will ride as low as I need it to, so I'm hoping that someone here has they use and can recommend...... The shoulder rig, I haven't seen a lot of posts concerning them, as far as detailed reviews.... I'd appreciate some idea's..

i got plenty of room to hide things, so i have never tried, but you might like a belly band.

if you dont have to tuck in your shirt, most ant IWB would work.

Check out crossbreed holsters. I do not have one but several of my friend use them and are very pleased with the holster.
