Texas weather....

Post by atxgun »

Ugh, I left for work this morning and it was 75. Now in my part of austin is low 30's and snowing. Hopefully it will be 70 tomorrow morning again so I don't have to drive on ice.

I dunno abut down there, but not up here. It'll barely get above 40 tomorrow. It won't get warm again until Friday.

This warm/cold warm/cold is murder on my arthritis and joints..

It's 27 degrees at my house right now.

You know what they say about Texas weather...
If you don't like it, just wait 10 minutes.

The siren woke me up, and I listened to my scanner for a while and went back to sleep.

Yes, this is Texas, if you don't like the weather, stick around, it'll change

My yankee carpetbagger parents kidnapped me from my native San Antonio when I was too young to defend myself, and made me grow up near Albany, NY. There is a lot wrong with cold, I just am thankful it doesn't REALLY get cold in TX.

Unless it's summer, then it's just hot. :thumbs2:

We had it just cold enough in TN to go sledding in my backyard.

I also remember being in my friend's car doing ice donuts in the local megachurch's parking lot. It was a slight bowl shape, so there was no real danger of sliding into the forest, and it made for some great dashcam videos. The security trucks usually just watched us from a distance, so we took that as passive approval.

You can always add more clothes to stay warm. There's a legal limit to what you can take off to stay cool.

Thats how I always look at it.. I stand beside equipment that puts out 180 degree air on a mild day, hotter on a hot day.. So needless to say I LOVE winter. It's my favorite season, besides fall.. It's also the only time of the yr we slow down long enough at work to take a break, and maybe even travel a little bit..

12 degree's when I woke up this morning. Tuesday we had 40 MPH winds, with wind chills around 0, temp was in the low 20's.. I could do without the wind, but 20 degree's is nothing.. 6 inchs of snow on the ground, 0 degree's outside and NO wind, now thats bliss right there  I had to work on a railcar one night at midnight. 30 MPH winds, -15 windchill.. I was out there for 4 hrs, I left the truck idling so it would be warm when I needed to get in and warm up. That diesel was screamin all night, turbo spooled up, RPM's around 1300 just so it could keep water temp up. It would idle down for about 2-3 mins, and stay in high idle for 10  Back and forth all night. That was miserable, but if I had clothes for those type condition's, it wouldnt be any big deal.. If ya like the weather condition's, ya learn ways to make it easy on yourself. Just the same as people do in the summer..

Mars & I went for a walk in the snow this evening. Neighbors' kids were having snowball fights in the street.
One of the girls had quite the snowball arsenal lined up along a car's roof. I was proud of her good use of cover as well.

Snowing in downtown Houston this evening. Two weeks too early.

Must be all that global warming.
