Who has seen red dawn?

DO you think a large scale invasion like that would be possible?? I think that we would out gun those commies in Texas.

It is sad that people, especially younger people, have not seen Red Dawn. Not that I think it's possible. I think the Russians would try to stay away from the scary drug cartels just south of our borders. Now California might be a different story.. and they would only have the Terminator as Chuck Norris lives in Texas.

Wolverines!

Let's try something.

Armadillos!

Just doesn't work the same.

Javelinas!

A little better.

Longhorns!

Perfect!

Great movie and highly plausible but I bet we Texicans would put up a better fight than was implied in the movie. Those Coors sippers can't keep up with us.

I also meant to add that if only watched last night cause it was on Spike then you have not really seen it. You need to go rent it and see it uncut. I watched it last night just to see how bad they butchered it. They left a lot out. Like the scene where the camera pans across the bumper sticker that reads "they can have my gun when they pry it from my cold dead fingers". and then pans to the Russian pulling the 45 out the drivers hand.

In one of the many histories of the cold war that I've read, a few of them stated that the large amount of arms owned privately was one (of the many) reasons the Soviets never even seriously considered an invasion.

Especially where the Russians would have access.. Alaska..hmmm Caribbean into the Southern states.. neither good.. if there was a land bridge to New York or new Jersey.. that might be easier

Also one of my all time favorites movies. I remember watching that in high school and thinking how my friends and I would regroup and do some serious commie gorilla hit and runs.

I don't think it's too plausible though since we'd see them coming with supplies by boat and if we were still in the cold war then they'd be sunk. I also think 2 of the largest bases in America at Ft. Hood and Ft. Bliss would stop whatever came at them.

I think a more realistic scenario would be an India style full force attack with 50-100 terrorists hitting spots. It's amazing it hasn't already happened. Our battle cry would be easy, "Let's roll..."

Followed by the government and their enablers in the media, clamoring for the elimination of firearms in private hands. If everyone did not have firearms, they will cry, the resulting death toll would not have been nearly as high.

I have NO fear we would ever be conquered by another country. We could, and probably will some day, tear ourselves apart. Short of a nuclear holocast, we are our only real enemy.

As for the movie...I have a copy on DVD that gets watched on occasion. It is an outstanding flick that is appropriate after a day at the range and especially while cleaning firearms with the kidos.

Well..we don't have "Wolverines!!!" as our battle cry

All we have is "Remember the Alamo!!!!"
