If you look at the bills introduced you will see that all of them in 2007 died... same for 2008... We need to go for a three-pete in 2009 for all the states that reintroduce or introduce this type of legislation.

If we all work together we can get items like this shot down at the state level, which in the past has sent a clear message to the federal level to stay away from it.

Texas doesn't have any ammo id bills but if other states did pass this that does not mean it wouldn't affect us. Think how mass production works, it very well may be cheaper for them to just have one assembly line and ship out tagged ammo to everyone. Even if this doesn't mean your name ends up in a DB when you buy it, increased manufacturing costs get passed on to the consumer.

Another motivation to do this across the board could be to cover their own rears and not have to worry about accidentally making a non-tagged shipment to a state that requires it.

I really think Texas should step up as a leader and introduce legislation specifically prohibiting any such law from being formed. If nothing else I think it would be a good token of our stance on the issue.
