Why in the world would anyone make a statement like that, that could be spread throughout the media and into the limelight of public awareness?

I seriously doubt the authenticity of this statement, though I have no doubt that it may be what most of us believe she is thinking.

She gets away with it the same way all liberals get away with the lies that are told. The lies never get challenged in the media. It's that simple.

If Sarah Brady did indeed say that, she wasn't lying. As long as the American public has guns, a socialist state will not succeed here. It's something to do with guns and blades of grass, clinging and religion.

No reason to apologize. You presented us not only with a quote that, has been reppeated often throughout the interweb. You gave us a chance to verify or debunk.
I suspected it might be bogus, but the Brady's are usually considered Republicans.

I know the quote is bogus but sometimes I just think "So What??"

Everytime I hear about:
"The Assault Weapons"
"The Gun Show Loophole"
"EBR's used in crimes"
"Pistols being classified as a public health threat and that's why they need to be outlawed"

They are all lies and there are countless others, pure and simple with reams of data to back up the truth. I'm more and more at a loss to know how to respond. How does one respond to a lie when the truth gets no air?

The plain simple truth unfortunately is I just don't care if this quote is true or not. When I first read it, the thought of it being bogus never entered into my head. It falls right in step with everything else that I hear and read on the Brady website so why wouldn’t it be true? The Brady’s still call themselves Republicans but that term doesn’t seem to mean much to true conservatives anymore. Take out her reference to the US being turned into a Socialist country and everything else rings true to everything I’ve read on their website.

The facts are that the assault on the 2nd amendment is led by lies and distortions. The side that makes up the rules usually wins wars and it seems that the attack on the 2nd amendment is being fought if not by outright lies, then certainly is being fought by gross distortions of the truth.

I for one am at a loss on how to fight it.

Wars are like making sausage. Everybody likes sausage but no one wants to see it being made. War is the same way. This war on the 2nd is kind of like that I guess and we as a group need to figure out how to fight honorably within the “rules” that the opposition seems to willing to fight by because it’s obvious that standing on the truth won’t work.

When I see quotes from politicians that only want guns in the hands of the military and police, I just want to puke because the truth is that is exactly what the framers of the constitution did not want to see happen. Try telling that to someone who knows nothing about firearms and it’s like talking to a wall.

Going off on a little tangent here, I believe that socialism (or more accurately/broadly, collectivism) has already taken deep root in this country, and virtually everyone reading this does not know anything else.

What else would you call FDR's New Deal, the "Great Society" promoted by LBJ (a Texan), and "compassionate conservatism", TARP and the recent bailouts all promoted or signed into law by the recently-privatized Dubya (the same Dubya who signed the original Texas CHL law) or his appointees?

Just as Deng Xiaoping launched "socialism with Chinese characteristics" in the PRC, I believe a strong argument can be made that individuals like FDR, LBJ, and Dubya were architects of a crony-capitalist "socialism with American characteristics"---which also features politicized, crude forms of gun control.

Andrei Sakharov's ideas on "convergence" seem pretty precise in retrospect. (They are not accurate in that the PRC seems to have supplanted the former Soviet Union in importance to the world economy.)
