My niece came home with a note about
Great Americans Day. Her mom had never heard of such a thing and neither had I. It looks like they're talking about Presidents' Day. So...off to Wikipedia I went. The link for "Great Americans Day" goes to "Washington's Birthday" with no other mention of "Great Americans Day" or where the term comes from. As it turns out, the official name for the holiday is still "Washington's Birthday", though almost every calendar you buy says "Presidents' Day". Google wasn't much help as all I seemed to be coming up with is articles about schools having "Great Americans Day" activities.
Anyone know the origin of this alternate term for the federal 3-day weekend in February?
