Effective immediately, Governor Perry has issued a proclamation that allows persons with concealed handgun licenses from Hawaii will be allowed to carry in Texas. All Hawaii license holders will be required to follow Texas law while carrying in this state. This proclamation is unilateral and is not a reciprocal agreement. Texas concealed handgun license holders will not be allowed to carry in Hawaii.

The Map can be found on the "Other States" forum. Its locked near the top. Its a shame its the first time since the map started we haven't gained any more states. I guess we got just about all we are gonna get.nedmoore wrote:I am going to Hawaii soon, anyone know about carrying there? I could not find the reciprocity map. Thanks.

Re: CHL in Hawaii
Better not. In Hawaii, a sling shot is classified as a Weapon of Mass Destruction.nedmoore wrote:Thanks guys, guess I will have to take my sling shot!

I seem to remember that you are required to register any modern firearm within 3 days of arriving.
No mention of musket or cap and ball though.
We go every year and it is fairly safe. We go to Oahu and stay at a condo, not a resort.
If you are going to Oahu, The Big Island, or Maui, get one of these books: http://www.amazon.com/Oahu-Revealed-Ult ... 097172797X" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (scroll down to see the other books)
They have great hints on where to go and what to see.

I am back safe and sound with a gun at my hip, I did miss it. The crime there is horrible! At every tourist stop the amount of glass on the ground from broken car windows is amazing! One of my colleagues had their vehicle broken into at a scenic point and the bad guys got every backpack that was in it! It was raining and they were only out of the car for about five or ten minutes!
What really made me mad was the crime at Pearl Harbor.... Here people go to pay respects for the men that lost their lives by a sneak attack from the japs, and when they get back to their car, windows are shattered and belongings are stolen. With that being said, Pearl Harbor was quite a moving experience. What a sad day, December 7, 1941. To see the oil, still bubbling up to the surface from the U.S.S. Arizona was remarkable.
My wife and I stopped off at a scenic overlook and noticed some locals standing next to their car drinking beer. When they saw me they started to act like tourists, even taking pictures of themselves and pretending to get stuff out of their trunk! I moved my car to a closer parking spot where I could keep an eye on them, and they left!

I lived in Hawaii for about a year. The crime there is pretty bad, but it's mainly aimed at tourists. Locals know where to go and what to do to keep their windows from getting busted. One thing I learned - keep nothing valuable in your car and keep it unlocked when you go to the beach. That way they can open the door to see you have nothing to steal rather than break the window to discover the same fact.
