How do we know what's in the bill? No one has read it because His Obamaness and Her Pelosiness have decreed the economic situation does not allow time to read the 1100 pages.

Very good point! Who knows what's actually in it until it hits us head on!

UPDATE...

My Dad and I tried to get our Congressmen (Hensarling and Olsen repsectively) to scrounge up a copy of this monstrocity for us to review...

And seeing how the Congress and Senate voted on this thing without reading it (most of those in whole, from what I hear), it seemed to me a reasonable request to have these folks that work for us do something...

Now I am not very critical of this revelation, but I do understand the politics of this was to get it done and reduce the damage of time and review to keep the pork in the bill...We all know there are things in there (the bill) that would rival the scare tactics used by Stephen King...

I too am concerned that there are some things hidden in there that might be very serious for our issue...Thats why I believe we need to hold these elected officials feet to the fire, even though it is too late to stop it now...We need to see what it is they voted on...I know it sounds like a boring exercise, and for the most part we might not be able to get copies of this thing, much less be able to review it effectively enough...I still believe the requests make an impact...

And that I hope that in a little over 20 months we go to the polls again and pilage the ranks of Congress and the Senate for this debacle...We know who should be at the top of the list, but unfortunately we in Texas do not have the luxury of tossing Spector, Snowe and Collins out on their ear...

I know this doesn't have much impact on the forum topics, but like you are wondering...It would be interesting to see what they snuck in there on us...

I would say that everyone should call their "critters", regardless of political affiliation, and demand a "certified" copy of this thing...And not some glossed-over PR version...If they fail to do so, or excuse their way out of this request...I would tell them directly that we'll remember that in November of 2010...And that is not too far away in my book...

Elected officials do not like pressure or being asked to be transparent in this way...So much the better for us...

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If it's on the internet, thank a geek.
