Stolen Gun
My brother today had his truck broken into and his Kahr 40 stolen from within it at the Fry's parking lot. I'm am getting sick of these people stealing from those of us who work hard to earn the things we have. He reported it to the police and they took fingerprints. These people never buy their guns, they just steal them from the rest of us.

Re: Stolen Gun

Re: Stolen Gun
Was it locked in a compartment or lock box? (I ask because I put mine in a lockbox secured by cable, and I wonder how good even that is)

Re: Stolen Gun
Obviously not a 100% but still a good step up. I would think these people are wanting to get in and out as quickly as possible. I guess it might depend on how professional they were and what kind of tools they brought along.ClarkLZeuss wrote:Was it locked in a compartment or lock box? Re: Stolen Gun
No, wasn't in a lock box, but he is getting one and going to either bolt it or weld it to the floor. Sounds as if I should get a couple myself. It was hidden in a cubby in the dash and that Kahr is so damn small you would never see it. They just broke his rear passenger window with a screwdriver and looked for what they could grab quick with his alarm blaring away. He just feels stupid for having left it in the truck. I'm not sure if they did check cameras, but that was my thought too since I recall several on their building.

Re: Stolen Gun
This kind of stuff scares me. I keep my Ruger SP101 in the center console of my pickup, and usually a rifle sitting behind the seats. My truck would be a smorgasbord for a thief. I need to also rethink this.

Re: Stolen Gun
The officers did review the security cameras, but nothing was captured on tape. Very disappointing. They move back and forth and only cover off one corner of the building. Apparently it is prevalent there and that is why there is usually an officer at the location. The officers did say to not be surprised that the gun may eventually be recovered though. I guess they get used and tossed or picked up in an investigation rather quickly after a crime.

Re: Stolen Gun
Sorry to hear about the theft. It seems like these cameras never work when you really need them.
I recently purchased some vehicle safes for my truck and my wife's suv. They are the types that you fasten with cable to a secure part of your vehicle. What was nice is that they keyed both safes the same per request. I realize that these may not be "theft proof" but it would slow down the "smash and grab" crowd.
The site for the safes is
