Long Ranges near Lubbock, TX

Post by MCook806 »

Anyone know of anyplace you can go and shoot over 200 yards near Lubbock, TX? Recently moved here and the only range I found won't allow anyone to use their 200 yard target area. They told me it was for competition only. :(

Thanks,

I moved here a year ago...Did you go to the Slaton range? I am not sure how long it is. Other than that there is very little I am aware of out here, which is strange given all the wide open space...

Thanks for the response. Yeah that's the range I went to. They do have a 200 yard target but told me I couldn't use it and that they only used it for rare competitions. :(

Thanks though,

Went back to the range yesterday and they actually let me use the 200 yard area. :) Said that since it was slow they would let me. :P Got my 300WSM and .223 dialed in. :P

Thanks!

I would have to agree. The guys there are VERY nice and helped me out a ton with one of my pistols. I tried to pay them and they declined taking the payment and said "When you pay for using the range our services are free." :)

There is also something about the setting that is nice. Tucked away in that little canyon can be a nice break from the flatness that looms only a couple of hundred feet or so above...
