WFAA - Daybreak blurb about Parking Lot Bill

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

WFAA - Daybreak blurb about Parking Lot Bill

Post by MrsFosforos »

Did anyone else see it this morning? there was a 30 second report about the parking lot bill. They quoted "Texans for Gun Safety" as stating it was a "bad idea even for responsible gun owners". I looked for a link on the site, but it's not posted.

Ha, it's almost laughable... the bad idea was the opinion presented was one-sided, unsubstantiated & presented as news.

I know, I shouldn't be surprised, but what ever happened to unbiased news casting?

Sounds like a Brady organization.

This is from their website:
"Remember: a backup firearm carried about your person may be highly valuable to you in the event your primary firearm is ever rendered inoperable or is taken from you by an assailant."

Is anyone familiar with this organization?

3. Keep the action open and the gun unloaded until you are ready to use it.
I guess all one needs to do is open a website and they become experts.

It was founded by rabid anti-gunner Dave Smith, now deceased. The organization was always small, disorganized and ineffective. It was also the image of Dave Smith -- 100% anti-gun with tired old false emotional arguments. I appeared on a TV program once with Dave and a lady from the "Texas Chapter" of the Million Mom March. He was pathetic.

I've looked at their website now and I'm amazed at the transformation. Although I haven't read the entire website, the message seems to be focused on safety, except for their home-grown "statistics" that are clearly designed to discourage gun ownership. I'm not saying they're one of us mind you, only that the organization appears to have changed since Dave's death. It will be interesting to see if they take a position on campus-carry.

I think it's important to note that newly elected Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia is on the Board of Directors.

Even better, instead of just telling you to keep your guns away from your kids at ALL times:

"7. Explore "gun-proofing" your child by proper training, and by controlled and closely supervised access to firearms to reduce your child's natural unsatisfied curiosity about firearms."

It seems to not be a rabid anti-gun organization. Is Adrian Garcia anti-CHL? I don't recall reading anything pro or con about him.
