Chrono Data

Post by arod757 »

Got to go out and get some data on my reloads today with my chrono for the first time. Thought I'd share.

Precision Delta 9mm 115 Grain FMJ
4.8 Grains Accurate Arms No.2 Improved
CCI SP Primer
Mixed Brass (Probably should have separated rounds by brass type, but didn't think about it. Oh, well)
COAL 1.156
Fired from Glock 19
Measured on a Chrony Beta chronograph

First String of Five: 1151, 1168, 1143, 1153, 1157.
Average FPS: 1154.4
Average PF: 132,756

Second String of Five: 1143, 1162, 1157, 1158, 1151
Average FPS: 1154.2
Average PF: 132,733

I tested another string of five with 5.0 Grains and got an average velocity of exactly 1200 FPS. Little too snappy for my taste.

Perceived recoil on the 4.8 load seems less than WWB or Brown Bear steel case, our normal factory range ammo, and I get more velocity out of my reloaded ammo. Brown Bear's average was 1110.8 FPS. Didn't have any WWB to test today.

Anyway, I'm pretty happy with the results. A little surprised. I guess AA's data is a little conservative: Max charge of 5.2 Grains at 1145 FPS. I went over that at 4.8. Seems I make power floor for IDPA pretty easy with this load.

Any suggestions to improve data collection method would be appreciated.
