Economy: Emergent problems for CHL holders

I find around here that when the receipt checker asks to see mine a polite "no" seems to work just fine. If it's an elderly person such as is often the case in Walmart, and there is no line, I will sometimes stop just for politeness sake. I only buy things at wallyworld when I have no choice, so the 1-3 items I usually come out with take very little time to check. I've never had anyone give me any trouble over a receipt or bag check.
It is amusing to bypass the receipt-check line at Fry's and watch half the people in line suddenly decide to follow my example.

Stores will hire more security to help combat shoplifting. It is possible that one of these individuals would notice a bulge or a print and challenge a CHL holder. This type of situation could easily escalate with poorly trained or inexperienced "security."

I have been in the security business for a few years now, and as many people have said, they cannot legally just challenge you like this. Most places have a lot of training in place to teach their security to only make a detainment or confrontation when they are 110% sure that a shoplift has occurred (if you are saying that security will think that you are stealing), due to the many possible law suits you could hold against them if they just randomly detained you.

Now there are always those big-headed wanna-be cops out there that you have to watch out for, but if they ever cross that line you would be in the right.

And as said above, as far as Walmart, frys, etc receipt checks/sensors going off as you go out the door, you do not have to stop and show them anything. Of course they can ask, but as soon as they tell you to stop, it can arguably be considered imprisonment (providing they have not caught you shoplifting).

Can a store have a sign that requires you to show your receipt when walking out the door? I believe frys has a sign. Couldn't that be construed as don't shop here if you won't submit to a check?

They can have a sign, but to my knowledge they still cannot make you stop. The worst they can do is ask you not to shop there anymore.
