Southwest Ammunition Supply Co.
Just found this gem of a place today. A friend recommended I pick up my reloading stuff there so I went to check it out. This place wasn't huge or fancy but they do carry exactly what I needed. Great prices on everything I needed!!
I picked up a bottle of titegroup for $14 and 500 rounds of 9mm for $4.50/100!!! If I recall correctly, they had a 250 round pack of Magtech .45acp for something like $55 or so. Primers were also priced a few dollars below Cabella's asking prices. Great shop and a friendly guy behind the counter willing to discuss your interests.
I give this place two guns up!!!!

I'm sure he'll answer, but my guess is that this is just the cost of the bullets. To be used in reloading...Wildscar wrote:Not sure how to ask with out sounding crazy so I'm just going to ask.age_ranger wrote:500 rounds of 9mm for $4.50/100!!!

Sorry to get your hopes up, KRM45 is correct, it's bullets only and for reloading. Still, after buying powder and primers I'm figuring the cost of 100 rounds at around $5. Not a bad savings at all.

Re: Southwest Ammunition Supply Co.
I'm annoyed with them for the moment but I'll probably get over it due to their great prices and being within reasonable (37 miles) driving distance; but...
I discovered them a couple of weeks ago. Made a trip out there and bought 500 Rucker .45 ACP 230 gr. RN for $45.00. I was pleased as punch and thought about just stocking up and buying 1500 more right then.
So I asked the guy if they had those in stock most of the time. He said yes, that this was the storefront for Rucker bullets, and the owners kept them well stocked.
I didn't pay attention to the business hours sign on the front door, so when I made a trip out there yesterday I discovered they are only open Wednesday through Saturday. Okay, my bad, even though I had tried to call and there's no answer, and no answering machine, and they have no web site, so there wasn't any way to determine store hours without driving to the store.
Today I decide to take an extended lunch break and make a trip out there. I get there and they are out of .45 ACP 230 Gr. RN. I ask the guy and he tells me the owner is on her way with more stock and it could be as little as ten minutes. I wait twenty. Then I go grab lunch for 40 minutes. Then I go back and ask again. Nope, no delivery yet. Out of time so I head back to work.
Evidently they don't own mobile phones, don't know what the world wide web is, and don't own an answering machine.
Other than that, their pricing is great...and maybe I just caught them on their one-off day this year.
Anybody know someplace near Grapevine where I can get plain old lead RN 230 gr 45 ACP for reloading? Looked at Kead's site, and most of the dealers he lists have broken links, and it appears it's a bad idea to order direct from him since I see complaints in lots of other forums about him taking up to a year to deliver.

Re: Southwest Ammunition Supply Co.
I stopped by there today. Bought 1000 small rifle primers, 1 lb of HS6, 100 223 rounds, 40 44 mag leveraction rounds and a taurus 44 mag pistol at a good price. Considering the shortages everywhere they had a good selection of reloading supplies although no small pistol primers, .30 carbine 110 gr bullets or 9 mm 115 gr bullets. Thankfully I have at least 6 months supply of small pistol primers and 500 .30 carbine bullets on hand, and an order for 9 mm 115 gr. bullets through Precision. So my reloading supplies are now okay for the time being. Hopefully the shortages will end in 6 months to a year.
It is a long way to go but was well worth it. Very friendly owner as well. That is a plus if nothing else.

Re: Southwest Ammunition Supply Co.
I thought I'd give an update on Southwest Ammunition.
since recently started to reload (well if I had primers I'd reload), going to southwest has been my Wed. ritual. I went there one week, they had no primers, didn't have the powder I wanted, but I bought a few bullets. Next week, they didn't have primers but I bought some powder.
Today I go and they have primers... YEAH.
their policy is that they will sell you primers if you buy the associated powder and bullets to go with it. DRATS!
Of course they didn't say anything about that the 2 weeks prior that I'd been there buying the other components individually.
I've explained that to the guy..no love.
Its unfortunate that they make you buy a full bottle of powder that can do over 1000 rounds everytime you buy 500 primers.
I've bought half my guns there, but I won't be going back. It ain't worth the long trip anymore. All the gas I've spent will easily cover the hazmat fees. I was trying to support a small shop since they have been so nice and helpful in the past. If I see them at a gun show, I'll stop by and see whats for sale.
They can run their business like they like I guess. Their choice. Its definitely a seller's market!

Re: Southwest Ammunition Supply Co.
I think the owner lady is changing the rules on the fly lately. They seem to be different every other week, and like I said in my earlier post, no sense calling before making the trip out there because they don't answer the phone and have no answering machine.
It's a shame, because they've got a history of being a great mom & pop shop with lots of satisfied customers through the years. I think that the owner is just not sure how to handle the current ups and downs in supply and is making the mistake of trying to please everyone by making rules intended to eliminate hording, thereby pleasing no one.
It was my frustration with them and ReloadsNMore that sent me down the DIY bullet casting road, and boy am I glad for it. Saving tons of cash and I have 1400 rounds of .45 ACP stacked up on the bench at home. Shooting two or three hundred every weekend and makin' more!
