Bad Weather in Lufkin
All,
If you haven't heard already, Lufkin was hit with a tornado early this morning. From what Longtooth told me it messed up parts of both Lufkin and Dibol. He is OK and so are all the people he is associated with/responsible to at the church as well as the family. He did have some church members with property damage but all were spared injury. He just wanted all to know, moderators and those that have been in conversation with him via this board, that his housing area is without electricity and looks like it will be that way for the next three days to a week. Please forgive his absence and he will be back in touch with everyone once power is restored to his community.
More to follow.

Tell LT that he and the community are in our thoughts and prayers, and to please let us know if there is anything we can do.

My prayers are with those who are in need of them.

Re: Bad Weather in Lufkin
He (and all affected) will be in our prayers. I will give him a call tomorrow and see what we can do to help.
We lost power here (about 40 miles from Lufkin) this morning at 6:30 a.m. when a line of severe thunderstorms came through. I am fortunate to have a generator...but the official word is we will be out of power for about three days.
Sounds like Lufkin was hit harder though. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

I will keep you guys in our prayers. Lack of electricity stinks! I got a message from LT earlier and he sounds a bit tired. I will be glad when things are back to normal for all of our friends in East Texas.

I live between Corrigan and Chester, and it was one heck of a storm where I live.
my dad and the crew were actually welding on top of a crane in woodville when it hit. Lightning EVERYWHERE.

I wonder how many people have yet to repair all their hurricane damage. I was in lufkin yesterday and still saw roofs covered with plastic.jbirds1210 wrote:I will keep you guys in our prayers. Re: Bad Weather in Lufkin
Just got off the phone with LT, as MTI stated in the opening post, lots of property damage but no bodily injuries to anyone.
As you would expect... LT has been busy helping everyone he can...every way he can, (including quite a bit of time on a chain saw).
LT told me he just got their own electricity on...and that his generator was still "cooling" as we spoke. Hopefully... every one affected will recover quickly and the insurance companies will do their jobs expediently.
Your continued prayers are needed...and I thank each one of you personally.
Flint.

Thanks for the update Flint. We're praying for LT and his church family as well. Those folks have certainly experienced some trying times lately.

Thanks guys & ladies. Back & it has been a LOOOOONG day. Computer Dude is correct. There are still some roofs that have not yet been repaired & several trees down in pastures that have not been cut up for fire wood. I think Steve & Donna still have some too.
The house we cut the tree off of was on the front page of Lufkin Daily News & I understand the Nacogdoches Centinal. This house is the Uncle of one of our members. The guy in the overalls is goes to Jubilee. I am unseen in the tree to the right of the last guy visible. This is the one we worked on absolutely until I had to leave for church.
We had power at the church Sunday but non there this evening.
Thank you for the prayers. Another of our members had their tractor & equipment barn completely wrecked. That was just south of Diboll almost to Corrigan where Computer dude lives. It was tough.

Re: Bad Weather in Lufkin
all I know is I woke up that mornin to a howlin mess, said a prayer and went back to sleep after putting on some pants and shirt and packing my laptop up in its indestructible waterproof case.
I have first hand experience escaping a tornado in my tighty whites and that aint happenin again.
I'm just glad it wasn't worse. Hope everyone recovers quickly

God Bless you, LT. You always think of others before yourself, and you are a stalwart and tireless spiritual guide to your community.
Praise God that you, your family, and your congregation are uninjured. I watched the news yesterday and saw how this storm front swept straight through, due east through East Texas, moving unusually fast and causing loss of life and damage until it moved out over the Atlantic.
