HB 3318 Infanticide Bill - Please Protect the Children
1. Call the Texas Calendars Committee today tell them to vote NO on the Infanticide bill, HB 3318!
Just say, "Hi, my name is __________ and I want to urge you to oppose the infanticide bill, Texas House Bill 3318. Thank you."
Remember you'll either talk to a staffer who will jot down your call or you will leave a voicemail message after hours.
No reason to be intimidated Each call will only take 30 seconds or so.

This bill by Jessica Farrar needs to be stopped. It is not surprising to note that Farrar is endorsed by Planned Parenthood in Houston and was honored by them at their 20th annual “pro-choice” luncheon. Please find time to make these calls.
From Adam McManus, host of the Adam McManus Show in San Antonio:
SHOCK! PRO-INFANTICIDE BILL PASSES TEXAS HOUSE COMMITTEE
Unbelievable! absolutely unbelievable!
The Texas Infanticide Bill, HB 3318, has passed successfully out of the House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee. HB 3318, by Jessica Farrar (D-Houston), the Infanticide Bill, is a terrible assault on babies.
Currently, if you murder a child under the age of six (6), it is Capital Murder, punishable by life in prison or the death penalty.
This bill, HB 3318, reduces the crime of murder against a child the age of 0-12 months, to only a state jail felony, with a maximum of 2 years and a minimum of 180 days. So the mom that murdered her child could be set free with only six months time served.
Please call.

A state jail felony is the same punishment given to people who shoot someone's dog.
So, this bill will reduce the value of an infant's life to the same level as that of a dog.
I called McCall's office and pointed this out.
It's an outrage.

I'm still outraged about this.
Another thought occurred to me: do we not all have a right to equal protection under the law? How does it make sense to lessen (or increase) the offense against someone based on the age of the victim?

Re: HB 3318 Infanticide Bill - Please Protect the Children
anygunanywhere, I'm glad you mentioned this, otherwise I wouldn't have learned about it.
In addition to the names on the list, I called my rep (Democrat Hopson). The very nice young lady who answered the phone was shocked and horrified by this bill, and couldn't believe me until she looked it up for herself (while I was on the phone).
This bill couldn't possibly be passed, and Hopson's office agreed with me that it's an absolute insult to the people of this state to even bring this horrid bill up for a vote.
Alright, I'm monopolizing your thread, agaw, so I'm not going to post any more posts.

Re: HB 3318 Infanticide Bill - Please Protect the Children
So you have to meet the standard of insanity to be found "not guilty by reason of insanity," but merely having your judgment "impaired" is sufficient to reduce the classification of murdering an infant from capitol murder (death penalty or life in prison) to a state jail felony (6 months to two years in jail).HB3318 wrote:(e)At the punishment stage of a trial in which a defendant
has been found guilty of causing the death of a child to whom the
defendant gave birth within the 12-month period preceding the
child ’s death, the defendant may raise the issue as to whether the
defendant caused the child ’s death because the defendant ’s judgment
was impaired as a result of the effects of giving birth or the
effects of lactation following the birth. If the defendant proves
the issue in the affirmative by a preponderance of the evidence, the
offense is a state jail felony.
Jessica Farrar, the bill's primary author, is also the woman who filed HB1395 that would make legal hunting a defense to prosecution, meaning every hunter could be arrested and prosecuted and they would have to hire an attorney to prove the defense of lawful hunting. So she would have lawful hunters to jail for killing a dove, but only have a murdering mother spend 6 months to two years in jail.

Do we get discounts at court for having our judgment impaired by alcohol? I mean, how many people would get DWIs if they weren't impaired, it's not their fault!Charles L. I don't think this lady will be happy til you can off your kid up to 5 or 6 years after birth.

Why is it being discussed? I thought politics discussions aren't allowed unless it's about guns.lunchbox wrote:why is this even being considered

This is absolutely unbelievable that something like this is happening in America. Outraged is a mild way of saying how I am feeling...more like sickening.

I'm guessing this has something to do with Abortion, but I fail to see what.
Even though I support the right to choose (yeah, I know, lemme have it) this makes no sense and I will make a call, along with all the pro gun stuff I will call about

It's in response to the garbage defense the second jury bought in the Andrea Yates case.
