Another shooting in SA

Post by DONT TREAD ON ME »

A 47-year-old woman was fatally shot in the doorway of her own home on the East Side Tuesday night.

Karen Brumfield, a mother of a daughter and two sons, was shot around 9:30 p.m., when she peeked through the curtain after the dog barked, witnesses said.

A witness said she was shot three times in the head with a shotgun.

Brumfield’s boyfriend of 15 years was home with her at the time of the incident, which may have been prompted by a fight at a nearby convenience store between neighborhood teens, witnesses said.

Police are still searching for Brumfield’s shooter, who fled the scene at the house on the corner of Sunrise View and Sunrise Terrace, authorities said.

No other information was immediately available.

Wow! She was shot three times in the head by a shotgun? Or was she hit by three buckshot pellets from a shotgun? Or she was shot at three times by a shotgun and got hit somewhere in the barrage?

(No offense meant to you, XD.45, as I'm sure you copied in a news article.)
Remember, in a life-or-death situation, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

There seems to be a trend with folk getting blasted when they look out their windows or doorways.

A cheap CCTV camera on the front porch wired into the TV set is sounding more and more worthwhile to me.

None taken. You are correct I just coppied it out of a news article. She was shot 3 times in the face with a shotgun. The Police are saying that her face is pretty much gone. I would assume then (and we all know what that does) that the shotgun was a .410 either that or these guys were horrible shots. Either way its a sad story.

If the perps were using light field loads and #8 bird shot in a .20 the bone structure in the face would stop a lot of the pellets. I have a friend who was shot from about 6 feet away during an attempted abduction/rape with this type of load. The pellets entered her arm, neck and side of the face and head. None of the pellets penetrated more than 1/2" in any tissue, even the softest portion. Many were lodged in the surface of the skin on her face and head. She did suffer some nerve damage in the arm and neck but overall was in fairly good shape.

Very good advice. We have had about three of these kind of reports within the last couple of days. Hear a noise outside and look out or open the door and find yourself in big trouble....don't do that! If you hear a noise outside look out the peep hole in the door, or if you peek out the side of a window be sure you do not have the light on behind you. This has been discussed here many times and the general consensus was to not go outside, if you feel that there is a real threat dial 911.

Just a thought.
