Memorial Day letter not worth printing.

Post by longtooth »

I have written a "Jubilee Report" for the Diboll Free Press since the church was started there. I had to drop it for several months after my 2 surgeries. About 6 months ago I started it again. They rejected my Memorial Day Letter w/ no room as the reason.

Monday was Memorial Day and I hope you had a good celebration. More than that I hope you really took time out to remember those who have died to establish or preserve your freedom that is today, eroding at a rapid pace. Memorial Day is more than just remembering the fallen in battle. It is remembering them with a resolve to preserve what they died for. It is to make sure they did not die in vain.

Today the greatest enemies of freedom are not the British Red Coats, the German Luftwaffe, or even the Afghanistan Taliban. The greatest battle today is not with musket, M1 Garand, or Smart Bombs. The battle for Freedom by American Patriots today will be won or lost at the ballot box.

As a constant reminder of this I often review a film clip that is several years old that I keep archived. It is of Maxine Waters, a self proclaimed Liberal from California, interviewing John Hofmeister, President of Shell Oil Co. He is asking the American Congress for legislation that will allow the oil companies to develop new reserves in areas presently prohibited.

She asks him, if that happens what guarantees will you give “this Liberal” that the price of gas will go down at the pump. His answer did not suit her. Mr. Hofmeister, told her he could guarantee the American people, because of the inaction of the United States Congress, ever increasing prices and the $5.00 a gallon gasoline will look like a very low price.

Her response may shock many who oppose a “Socialist Share the Wealth” government trend. “Guess what this Liberal will be all about? This Liberal will be all about Socializing, (sudden stop and stuttering uuhh and finishing her statement with much stuttering for letting the “Liberal Agenda” slip out) uuh this Liberal will be all about uuh basically uuh taking over and the Government running all of your companies.” There is a self proclaimed Socialist Agenda in Washington today. Maxine Waters let is slip out.

Today our fighting men over seas are doing a brave and admirable job of fighting for freedom. They have kept the terrorist at bay and off American soil since the start of the war. Today let all freedom loving American Patriots who love the “Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave” rise up & fight with pen, e-mail, telephone calls, and conversation on the streets against those who seek to “Socialize” American Capitalism and Freedom.
I am reminded of something Margret Thatcher once said. The problem with Socialism is that it finally runs out of other people’s money.

Today I honor and thank the American soldiers who died to establish and preserve my freedom. From the first to die in the American Revolution to the last man to die in our fight in Afghanistan and Iraq, I honor you. Today I honor and thank the families that have lost loved ones in that fight for my freedom. Today bereaved family, living soldier, and American Citizen Patriot, I pledge my every effort to see that these fallen heroes did not die in vain. Who among you will join me???

I am very happy that your letter “made it to press” here. I believe there are many here that will applaud your letter.

Agreed! It is better to have it here in its entirety than edited to death prior to being printed in the local paper. Well spoken.

That's why there are three branches of government in Washington. Alas, the Founding Fathers never envisioned a time when they drafted the Constitution whereupon all three could soon be in agreement. From there on, it's going to be Left and Liberal and other things unmentionable on this private board.
