Woman shoots, kills husband
Gladewater (near Longview), this date -- A 40-year-old woman walked into a police station at 3:15 a.m. and said that she had shot and killed her husband. Police found the husband dead in the couple's home.
Police said there was no history of domestic violence in the home, and the woman appeared composed.
I have to wonder if the guy needed shooting. It's extremely unusual for people who have reached their 40s without domestic violence, alcohol or drug problems, or mental illness to go off the deep end like this.

Fear, anger, hatred, and greed. The devil's all-you-can-eat buffet.
Re: Woman shoots, kills husband
I agree, Jim, this is very strange to say the least. She was not in the least bit upset, distraught or showing any emotion at all. Even her mug shot did not look like she had just killed her husband of 40 years. I would not be surprised if it was not one of the reasons you named... very strange, indeed."seamusTX"]

Re: Woman shoots, kills husband
Maybe it was her?
Strange things happen and go on in both men and women's minds and lives around the age of 40. Sometimes, things straighten themselves out, sometimes they don't.
If you're 40 something, you know what I'm talking about; if you're not, get braced.

Re: Woman shoots, kills husband
Well, she may have been in shock from shooting him. It's quite possible that as time passes and the shock wears off that she will change her behavior quite dramatically. I've seen people respond in an emergency and deal with things I wouldn't have thought possible, and not show any reaction until several days later. I expect that this could be something similar. Not trying to excuse her shooting him, only suggesting an explanation for her apparent lack of emotion.bryang wrote:I agree, Jim, this is very strange to say the least. Oh, BTW its unlikely they were married for 40 years, as he was only 45 and she was 40...

Re: Woman shoots, kills husband
That's an actual fact; but it doesn't usually go in one step from a lifetime of law-abiding citizenship to murder, if that is the case here.Oldgringo wrote:Maybe it was her?

That was a good suggestion as an explanation for her lack of emotion, too.

Re: Woman shoots, kills husband
The woman, Melissa Fleming, was indicted for murder Thursday.

That's a long time for a murder indictment in such a clear-cut case. Maybe they waited for the results of a psychiatric exam.

I'll bet they did. And the fact that her face showed no real emotion in the mug shot doesn't really mean that much. If she was having some kind of psychotic episode, her mannerisms would not be at all in harmony with what we would expect from a normal, rationally functioning human being.seamusTX wrote:Maybe they waited for the results of a psychiatric exam.

"She" and "her" in the same sentence with "a normal, rationally functioning human being" ?

Ain't that the truth! It's like our thyroid just goes all funny inside and starts doing strange things. This happens more in women, but some men too and it effects a wide range of things.Oldgringo wrote:Maybe it was her?

BTW, what's going on in the water out there in east Texas? There's been some strange things in the news lately and the last couple of years out there.

Speaking of strange, Tyler just hosted a Bigfoot convention. Tyler has hosted this since East Texas'
piney woods have had multiple reports of unknown critters resembling Bigfoot. Tyler tourism officials
were glad to get the business.
