Department of Homeland Security Police?

Post by Drewthetexan »

I was driving up 360 in DFW and noticed a strange police cruiser yesterday. An all white SUV with blue "police" on the doors and a DHS seal on the front quarter panel.

I know that DHS is an umbrella over several other agencies, but I've never seen a generic DHS police cruiser before. Anyone know anything about this -what they enforce and where their jurisdiction is? I'm having a hard time turning anything up on the internet about it.

I think they are FPS, federal protective services.

They are a division of ICE and responsible for protecting federal buildings, and "other duties as the secretary of homeland security may prescribe"

Its yet another waste of government money, for yet another "federal police force".

It's a straight shot between Dallas and Little Rock.

I think one could read quite a bit into that link. Or maybe I'm dense; could you clarify a bit?

Yup, yup. FPS has an office up on 360 in the Green Oaks Blvd area....more or less.

Well that might explain why I saw it where I did: between Trinity and Green Oaks.

Hmm, yeah on second thought Green Oaks blvd does cross 360 twice...

Maybe that's another reason DFW is #2 in traffic manners.

could you clarify
American citizens have been converted to Islam in droves at mosques built and funded in the U.S. by Saudi Arabia. I don't think it's a secret any longer that some of those mosques have funded and otherwise contributed to the recruitment and training of Islamic terrorists and others sympathetic to terroristic activities. After the shooting last week of two U.S. Army recruiters in Little Rock, the DHS has undoubtably upped the scrutiny of these religious centers.

But you have to admit, your posting has nothing to do with the topic being talked about here in this thread. Can we stay on topic? Thanks.

Driving in to Ft.Worth from Arlington, I see from time to time, Federal Marshal Service cruisers on I-30. Not very often, just enough to notice. I think that's interesting. In looking in the phone book, there's an INS office(or what ever they call themselves nowdays), on West Pipeline Rd. That's not to far from me. Interesting what government agencies are around and hear nothing about them. Well...generally speaking.

Joe817,

No, I don't have to admit to that. I am on topic here. Drewthetexan asked why a DPS police cruiser might be running Dallas streets. I believe I answered with a plausible explanation.

...and I thought DHS stood for Demon Hunter Squad.

FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.
