DFW in the National News

Post by RiverRat »

DWF was found to have the 2nd most unfriendly drivers in the U.S. behind the 1st place winner city....drumroll.......NEW YORK CITY.

The survey was based on the most likely to honk, holler, and give a single finger salute.
Looks like all of the unfriendly people haven't moved out of NYC and relocated in DFW, ..........yet.... :smilelol5:
:txflag:

Austin must not have a large enough population to be considered in the survey......we have our share too.

The bird isn't the only thing being shot on our highways and byways.

There are several factors that I think make it this way.

1. traffic
2. people treating the HOV lane like any other lane
3. people using the HOV lane as a passing lane
4. single person in vehicle in HOV lane
5. people who are oblivious to others and couldn't care less
6. people being fed up with 2-5

IMHO

I'm not surprised about DFW being one of the worst, but second? The overwhelming lack of public transportation doesn't help either.

In this case, I believe that pertains more to Dallas than it does to Fort Worth. I've seen it often in Dallas, but not F.W.

Fort Worth doesn't even have HOV lanes. Not needed.

In Ft Worth all we have to do is dodge pot holes on all our surface streets, has anyone seen a load(weight) limit sign on any streets in this city heck in my area we don't even see stop signs every where they should be unless we ask the city for it, a 2 mile stretch of Alta Vista 1 speed limit sign and it is at the beginning of one end and yes I know this because I got a speeding ticket there many years ago.

It was on ABC. They only had the top 5..... DFW was the only Texas city on the list. NYC, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Don't remember the other.

DFW is also high on the list as being an area with among the worst rush hour traffic. There may be a correlation!

Houston wasn't on there because their pollsters couldn't merge with traffic on 610

I've driven in most of the citys mentioned... As far as I'm concerned Boston is the worst city. Probably jujst about anyone that has driven there will agree.

If they did away with the HOV lanes, the traffic congestion wouldn't be quite as bad. That would probably ease some problems.

And it woudl ease a lot of anger over watching single passenger cars blow by you while you are standing still.

More carpooling! I would like to see railway system on 45/i-10/59 in Houston. But there seems to be more cons then pros for that idea.

It's a good thing I don't work downtown, but I wind up screwed with tollways...

I think there's just more Cons on the public transit, regardless. good reason to carry....
