Pembroke, North Carolina (middle of nowhere), Thursday -- A woman left her minor daughter with a man in her home. The relationship between the woman and man is not reported.
While the woman was out, her daughter called to report that the man had molested her. She returned home to find that the daughter had locked the man out of the house.
The mother went into the house to talk to her daughter, then confronted the man. He denied that he had done anything wrong. The mother then shot him.
He apparently (reading between the lines) drove himself to the hospital and reported that he had been shot in a drive-by shooting.
He is charged with "first-degree sexual offense." The mother is charged with "assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury."

I can certainly sympathize with the mother, but that ain't how it works.

This seems to fall in the "he needed shooting" catagory.

That's my feeling, too. However, that isn't how our justice system works. We all have to respect the system, or the guy who thinks its a capital offense to walk on his lawn gets to shoot you. (When I lived in Chicago, some old coot shot a kid for walking on his lawn.)
If you read the article, there was no physical evidence that the guy had done anything.

Jim, I must agree. As the father of three beautiful daughters, it's a hard thing to contemplate. But I've also heard of and know personally of false accusations just because the daughter wanted daddy back and didn't like the boyfriend.seamusTX wrote: I can certainly sympathize with the mother, but that ain't how it works.

Catching him in the act would be another thing entirely.
