My Brother, his wife, their son and friend of the family just received their CHL's at a little over 100 days.

So they are still not setting the world on fire in Austin.

I'm on day 83 right now. Not from Harris county or anything like that either.

Is it 90 days from the time the actually received the packet or 90 days after my status changed to "Processing Application"?

Darn, I thought Austin had shorter turn arounds. I knew Houston was long, but I thought it was just one of the ten thousand reasons not to live there.

I am 164 days and counting. I called again today (only my second time to call) and they said they are waiting on background checks... seriously, I am in the Air Force and work in a building that I cannot carry a cell phone, camera, MP3 player, thumbdrive or anything of the sort. I think my background has been checked really well.

That's ridiculous! Have you called your state representatives yet? If not, do so immediately! I'm sure they'd love to hear about it, and would gladly call DPS and turn on the burner for ya.
