Talk about cheap brass...

Post by gregthehand »

Even with some trucking involved this is some really cheap brass!

http://www.govliquidation.com/auction/v ... _-row1col2

If it didn't require a $10,000 deposit I would be all over it. I work in an industry where we use a lot of trucking so getting it down here wouldn't be too bad. Right now the lots are at $170 per lot 30 lots total. But it has:

5858 LBS - 7. 62MM
9721 LBS - 5. 56MM
9018 LBS - 50 CAL
290 LBS - 9MM
513 LBS - 22 CAL

Right now in Houston yellow brass is fetching $.95 a pound. So the scrap .22 cal would get us $487.35. However I don't own a .50 cal and don't really desire one at this time so I can sell the brass to a reseller for about $.90 a case or better. I'd say there is at least $9,000. Should easily cover the cost of shipping and the price of the other brass. Oh and brass for the rest of your life as far as 7.62 (.308) and 5.56 (.223).

So anyone want to go in on this!? :thumbs2: :fire

Well I thought I had this stuff locked up. Turns out that the $170 is for all the brass. So as it stands right now unless someone gets that $10,000 deposit in and makes a higher bid within the hour the high bidder right now is going to get 24k lbs of brass for $170. I had a guy in New York with a float trailer ready to go but I'm not going to be able to make it to the bank in time to wire in the $10,000 deposit to get this stuff. I will keep my eyes open for future auctions around the Southwest area. I can even go as far as Georgia. If I do so I'll sell the brass here to reloaders for very cheap. Even if this guy scraps it he will make a fortune.

Mods is there anyway we can move this to the reloading section? These auctions are somewhat common and I can hopefully secure something soon and make some reloaders here on the board very happy. :tiphat:

I guess people just like to bid right before it closes!
