This day in history - July 20

Post by seamusTX »

1861 - The Congress of the Confederate States met for the first time in Richmond, Virginia.

1944 - An assassination attempt against Hitler failed, leaving the dictator slightly wounded. The German resistance collapsed, and nearly 5,000 members were put to death.

1969 - Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon.

It has been said that in 500 years, the only thing that people will remember about the 20th century is that mankind got into space. All the wars, ideologies, politics, and celebrity garbage will have been forgotten.

1976 - The Viking 1 spacecraft landed on Mars, the first soft landing on Mars.

Fear, anger, hatred, and greed. The devil's all-you-can-eat buffet.
