CO: Man fatally shot at shooting range

Post by seamusTX »

Very sketchy reports at this time. A man was shot to death at a range near Colorado Springs.

Police now say that the man was accidentally shot in the chest by a friend who was unloading a weapon.

The range apparently does not have a safety officer. :eek6

Another horrific accident that could have been prevented, if only.....

These stories make me sick. Idiots, slobs, and drunks are destroying the environment for the rest of us.

Unfortunatly events such as this are all too common. My issue with public ranges is that we have no idea how much training the people on the firing line actually have. The range officers cannot possibly see everything.

I agree, Jim, it is unbelievable how people have no respect for anything. I was always taught if I made a mess then I have better clean it up.

I sure would not have wanted to be out there with a bunch of drunks with guns. I wouldn't doubt that alcohol was involved in this so-called-accident.

A National Rifle Association-sponsored shooting range adviser inspected the trash-strewn site in April 2007, according to a decision memo on the Forest Service Web site.

The adviser "recommended that supervision on site was needed immediately," the memo said.
