Travel To Dallas

Post by hheremtp »

The wife unit will be going to Dallas tonight, she will be staying in a hotel on the north side, 75 & 635, anyone know anything about that area of town? Thanks for the input.

What do you want to know? Where to go, what to avoid?

Dallas traffic bites. Kinda like Houston, so she should feel right at home.

She will be VERY close to the Galleria Mall on I635 (Just a little west from 75). All the high dollar shops and eats are there. I hope you have a low interest credit card!

She should avoid the area southeast of there. Forest Lane around Greenville Ave. has gotten a bad reputation. Overall, she'll be in a good area. Lots of restaurants northwest in Addison along Beltline East of Midway.

Anything specific you need to know, send me a message. I work evenings about 7 miles east of there.

cross fire,

Looking to find out how safe the area is, she is going up there for a class at Parker College, and also any good places to eat in the area. Thanks.

Thankfully she is not a shopper otherwise it sounds like I would be in trouble!

If you go a little way North of 635 to Beltline, you can find just about anything and everything you could possibly want to eat.

The area is generally safer than most other parts of Dallas. Parker College on Walnut Hill? Should be ok during the day.

And one trip through the Galleria will make a shopper of any woman. ;-)

Beltline East has all the good eats. I like Duke's Roadhouse for their Ribs, Chaucer's for their Sushi, and there's a Mexican Food joint just west of Duke's is really good, though I don't recall the name.

On Beltline West is a GREAT range, Dallas Pistol Club, just past Luna. You have to be a member, but they might be able to help out an "Out of Towner" with a day pass or something of that nature, IDK.

as with the enire DFW area, crime happens, but that area ain't "bad," on the whole. Tell'er to keep her head on a swivel, doors locked while driving, and all the usual thangs you do in "the big city" and all should be ai-ight.
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

Are you thinking of Los Lupes? I can't remember if that's West or East of Dukes....

Oh Yeah!! Their food is quite good! I can't remember ever having anything there that was not excellent.
