In San Jose, a man who had been fired from a recycling plant was scheduled to return for a grievance hearing. Before leaving home, he told his family that they would never see him again. The family called the police. The police told the recycling plant to lock down. They found and arrested the man and found a loaded gun in his boot.

Many times, killers have made comments of that sort to their families or acquaintances, and those who heard the warning did not take it seriously.

Fear, anger, hatred, and greed. The devil's all-you-can-eat buffet.

lucky for all someone heeded the red flag!
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.
Re: CA: Workplace shooting averted
I wonder what they will prosecute this guy for, if he doesn't confess.
Obviously he was carrying a concealed weapon without a license, but that is a misdemeanor in most states. I don't know about California.
They can't charge him with conspiracy to commit murder, because he did not conspire with anyone. His statement that his family would not see him again is sufficiently vague that it could have meant he was planning to go to Mexico or commit suicide, or he had a premonition that he would be struck by lightning.
I don't think they can charge him with attempted murder, because he had not taken specific actions to kill a specific person.

They might get him to plea out out to some anger management treatment. We can only hope it works.seamusTX wrote:I wonder what they will prosecute this guy for, if he doesn't confess.

The guy had worked at the recycling plant for 30 years. The article doesn't say why he was fired. We're probably going to see more of this kind of thing until the economy improves and unemployment drops.

This didn't happen. They have laws against that sort of thing in California, dontcha kno'. California has very strict gun laws, which work effectively... ...so effectively, in fact, that they need more of them to in order to be double dog super secret safe. Don't believe everything you read.
