Not sure if anybody has noticed, but our concealed carry brothers and sisters in Tennessee are getting a great deal of resistance from the state restaurant association. Apparently "any old sign" is good enough to exclude licensed carriers and the association leaders along with the insurance industry are recommending posting.
I would like to make Dr. Hupp aware of this situation to see if she has any interest in helping out their cause. TN did send Davy Crockett to help us, so maybe she would reciprocate.
Feel free to PM me.
Thanks,
Andy
Anybody got contact info for Suzanna Hupp?

I don't have her personal address, but she sub-hosts for Jeff Ward and perhaps others on Radio KLBJ 590 in Austin. Here is their contact page.

She isn't listed with their regular hosts but I bet they could help forward an email or perhaps tell you when she will be on again.

IIRC it's already forbidden in TN to carry into any establishment that serves alcohol, so the restaurant signage thing seems like a very minor issue. It would only apply for restaurants that do not serve alcohol, right? How common is that? Fast food joints, I guess?

That just changed within the past few months and you can now carry in a restaurant that severs alcohol if you are not drinking.mr.72 wrote:IIRC it's already forbidden in TN to carry into any establishment that serves alcohol, so the restaurant signage thing seems like a very minor issue. Thanks, Keith. I didn't know that. NRA-ILA's info is out of date.

Re: Anybody got contact info for Suzanna Hupp?
I thought they had to have a specifically worded sign to make them legal so they cannot just post "any old sign". As well, there are a few groups trying to get the law found unconstitutional because of private property rights but aren't getting far because of the businesses ability to post a sign to restrict CCW. That doesn't mean it won't cost some money to defend the law but the way I see it they need money for a campaign to educate the public as well as to pay some lawyers. They also have a state champion of the bill who is a lady who had her husband killed because she could not carry in the restaurant.
I personally think time will show this about the same as we have it. Someone will organize a list of posted businesses which CCW holders can avoid and all will be good eventually. The fear-mongers at the association are actively trying to promote postings and to destroy the law but over time will fail because their lies and stories of "shootouts by drunks" will not happen. The law states they cannot drink at all if they have their firearm with them. Maybe Suzannah Hupp can help but I think it will be settled once the hype dies down. That is just my opinion.
