The above link describes the infamous Jericho, Arkansas PD.

They have abused their residents and travellers for years by running a notorious speed
trap, to the extent that they usually don't respond to citizen's calls about other things.

During a court session one of the cops shot the fire chief with a .40 caliber handgun, brand/model
not specified. The fire chief was hit in the hip and will survive. One of the offices was also
slightly wounded.

This sad story poses the question "Who polices the police?"

Notice, no felony charges against the cop?

Disgusting.

Well, sometimes it takes some time to file charges.

Plus, when they finally get a locksmith to open up their office,
all these cops might be going to jail for stealing all those $150 fines
for themselves. (The office should hold the evidence as to where
the money went.).

There are plenty of good cops, but if they don't start punishing the bad ones, citizens are going to trust them all less and less. There needs to be a review panel in each state that is made up of citizens who have the power and are not afraid to fire and/or charge the ones who abuse power. This seems to be a growing trend where no matter what abuse happens, the officers involved are not charged the way they would be if they were common citizens.

7 cops in a town of 174 people?

Just a little bit of overkill. It also sounds like the "Mayor" is a part of it.
