1781 - The City of Los Angeles was founded. It was in New Spain at the time.

1886 - Geronimo and his band surrendered to the U.S. Cavalry in Skeleton Canyon in Arizona.

1888 - George Eastman received a patent for his camera and registered the Kodak trademark. This invention made photography easy for the common man and woman, and also made Eastman rich.

He also established revolutionary employment practices like employee stock ownership, retirement plans, and insurance.

1933 - Jimmy Wedell set a world air speed record of over 300 mph in the Wedell-Williams racer over Glenview, Illinois.

1951 - President Truman delivered the first live, nationwide TV address from the Japanese peace treaty conference in San Francisco.

1957 - The Ford Edsel went on sale.

The Edsel was a better car than anything they're making 50 years later.

The Edsel really had some advanced features, but when I compare my 1960s and 70s cars to modern ones with electronic fuel injection, I would never go back. I remember cars that wouldn't start in cold weather, hot weather, wet weather, and having to do tune-ups every few months. I'm glad that is ancient history.
