Mrs. Cowboy's Wally Walk

Post by cowboymd »

Though not near as exciting or documented as the USA1 walk, I took the wife out for dinner and then we went to the local Wally World for her celebratory Wally walk. For now she's carrying in her purse, so sorry no photo's, but it was kind of cool knowing we had a double going. :coolgleamA: :coolgleamA:

I now pronounce you man and wife.

Congrats to her, although probably should console her for the bum standing next to her. Those old homeless guys just appear out of no where don't they?

Thanks dude. I think she's a keeper. We actually did go to the ammo counter, because I told her that would make her Wally Walk official, but there wasn't any ammo on the shelves - except for maybe a 20 year old box in some caliber that nobody shoots anymore, like .38-44, or something.

What is the general thought on purse carrying? I have urged the wife to keep hers in a holster to ensure her defense is not dependent on her purse. I have a bad image of a purse snatcher grabbing her gun.

webb3201:
Although I think any CHL, man or woman, should carry their pistol on their person,
many women apparently prefer to carry in their purse.

One suggestion that I read somewhere is that if a woman prefers purse carry, she should
get a gun-specific purse that has kind of an outer pocket that ONLY contains the gun.

That way in a defense situation she can just reach into the wide, but snug, gun part of
the purse to effect the draw.

A holster that would be inside the purse would mean a troublesome search for it.

You have seen the inside of a woman's purse. Do you think a woman about to be carjacked
has time to roam around inside there to find her gun at the bottom of the pile?

My wife's female CHL instructor - who is a member of this board - suggested the purse to her, and uses one herself from time to time... ...and come to think of it... ...ever since I got my Maxpedition Fatboy S-type Versipack "man bag," so do I on occasion!
