The above link is a 3 page story about the time on 3/31/2007 when singer/songwriter Billy Joe
Shaver shot a guy in the cheek with a .22. Billy Joe had words with the man and was allegedly
threatened with a knife before Billy went to his car and retrieved his .22 pistol. The incident
is described differently depending on who you talk to.

This happened in Lorena, TX, which is just south of Waco, in McClennan County.
Since the man he shot had LEO's in his family, Billy Joe feared for his safety and left the scene
quickly and went down to Austin to stay with Willie Nelson, then got lawyered up.

It wasn't until September 2008 that the McClennan prosecutor indicted him.

I searched for the outcome of the court proceedings, but could not find out what happened.

Billy Joe Shaver is a Texas treasure and has written for many of the greats of country music.
