Red McCombs Ford Posted

Post by One Shot »

For those not interested in wasting time getting there, Red McCombs Ford in San Antonio is posted. Signs with the correct 30.06 wording are posted on entrances to the parts and service departments. Other areas may have been posted, but that was enough for me to turn around and take my business elsewhere.
Have to wonder about a business decision like this.

If you buy a car somewhere else, especially a Ford, send them a copy with a note why you didn't shop there.

I stopped shopping at Red McCombs after one of their idiot mechanics forgot to tighten the lug nuts on the back right wheel of my nearly brand-new truck (first rotation & oil change at 5,000 miles). If any of you have ever heard that great Ron White stand up comedy routine about "Sears Automotive" you'll know what happened next ...

WARNING: profanity in this YouTube link to Ron White's routine ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHT84A5t ... re=related" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Of course, they already had $20K plus from me because I bought the truck there :banghead: But I started driving out of my way to a different dealership for oil changes/tire rotations after the "lug nut incident" and have not shopped at any dealer with a McCombs name since.

Red McCombs Hyundai in San Antonio on I-10 and UTSA has a full 30.06 sign. Their Toyota dealership on I-10 and Callahagn
has a small correct wording but 8/5 by 11 printer size notice by the showroom door. It's new.

So I thought Red was some kind of TX gun guy - or is it some corporate lawyer type?

I think I'd pull in, ask to talk to the sales manager, tell him or her that I'm looking for (insert here one of the most expensive cars they have on the lot), and then casually notice the 30.06 posting, frown, and tell them that because they have the policy, you'll spend your money somewhere else.

And do this about once a week, or at least until they recognize ya :coolgleamA: and start ignoring you. :lol:

If you live in San Antonio, you might be surprised to find that it is your patriotic duty to go and do what cowboymd recommends. I invite you to go and tell the salesperson that you want to buy a car. Then, when you walk towards the 30.06 sign tell him/her that you've changed your mind due to the 30.06 sign. Go there once a month (so they don't recognize you) or send friends/family there instead of you so that they don't recognize you. Buy your friends/family lunch as a reward for doing this. If I lived in San Antonio, I would be giving out free holsters (or NRA memberships, etc) for people to do this. I just gave 2 free holsters for people to write my local mall to combat a 30.06 sign at my local mall. It's worked out well. I've had people PM me as well as people posting their letters here and on other forums. Let's nip these pesky 30.06 signs in the bud before they proliferate, pardners!

:patriot: :txflag: :fire

P.S. I recently discovered this cool website: http://www.texas3006.com/index.php . I'm going to Central Kia and Lute Riley Honda tomorrow in Dallas and do what cowboymd recommends. I typed into Google "Honda Review Dallas" and John Eagle Honda pops up with a 4/5 stars rating (good). I typed into Google "Honda Review Plano" and Lute Riley Honda gets 2/5 stars (dismal) while David McDavid gets 4/5 stars (good). After I tell the Lute Riley sales manager that I was going to buy a Honda but did NOT do so because of the 30.06 sign, I'm going to head on over to David McDavid, buy a Honda and drive on over to Lute Riley to show them that I mean business and that I'm not just a civil rights agitator. Both I and the Mrs are looking for new cars, so next week, I'm going to return and repeat the process with another salesman and another new car purchase. The Mrs needs a Honda Fit and I need a pickup truck (Honda Ridgeline or Dodge Ram Pickup). Any of y'all in the market for a new car in Dallas? Visit Lute Riley Honda first, then buy elsewhere. In this dismal car sales economy, ANY lost business cannot be ignored. Also, write letters to the owner. C'mon y'all, our forefathers fought and DIED, for our freedoms. You might be surprised to find that the least we could do is write some letters and visit a car dealership!

Even if you're not in the market for a new car today, go to your local 30.06 posted car dealership anyways and tell them that you want to test drive and buy (it's not a lie as you're eventually going to need a new car, right?). Then, notice the 30.06 and tell the sales manager that you have to leave and take your business elsewhere.

Interesting, I e-mailed one of local talk shows about the San Antonio signs, that always blathers about how they support the Second Amend. and shoot guns - blah, blah - tough guys.

Guess what - not even a reply. Money talks now doesn't it.
