Leavin' on a jet plane ...

Post by seamusTX »

My wife and I are returning to our home town of Chicago for the weekend. I will most likely be offline until Monday. Y'all take care and have a good weekend.

I might not have any reason to log on if I know there is not going to be a "This Day in History" to read.

have a good trip, Jim.

I guess we'll deal with not seeing your Horse's Rear around these parts for a few days :

My good friend goes to ChiTown about every other month on business, he says the skyline is truly beautiful. have a safe return trip.
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

Thanks everybody.

My wife and I survived 27 years living in Chicago and another 13 in the area. One more weekend wasn't much of a challenge.

The reality is that every day, 3 million people aren't shot or mugged in Chicago. Most of the bad stuff that you see in the news happens in isolated slum neighborhoods, and the the victims and perpetrators are residents of those areas.

Nothing looked worse than I remembered, and a lot of places looked better.

The only thing that put me in condition yellow was a couple of police cruisers in the parking lot of our hotel at night. The hotel was in Burbank, a suburb continguous with the city. One of the cars took off through the parking lot at a rate that was not prudent and then raced down the street. Nothing else happened, though.

I've said many times, I don't own "This day is history." It's all there for anyone to read.

BTW, I started in October last year, so I have almost gone around the calendar.

We ate practically nonstop, but I'm afraid we didn't get around to Chicago hot dogs or pizza.

No other place can equal Chicago hot dogs or pizza (I know New Yorkers think the same thing).

It was a nod in her direction. R.I.P.
