Good quality ironed shirt should be enough, I think. I did not work a long time on cover. Practice makes quick. He won't say it but I will. Flint is quick, Quick, QUICK. He has practiced shoulder draw several yrs. That will take time to learn muscle memory like strong side.

Depending upon your physique, and how much gun you're trying to cover.. I will agree with LT, a good shirt will suffice. For most people.. a coat or jacket will not be necessary.

There are limits of course. With my build and frame I could hide a VW pretty well  . If you're built more like Barney Fife (Don Knotts), then you may need to stick with a compact pistol for shoulder carry.

Like any other mode of carry, it has its pros and cons. I am not here to try "sell" anyone on the idea. The only reason I carry this way (instead of strong side) is because of a shoulder injury. In the process, I have learned that much of what you read about shoulder holsters being troublesome, slow, awkward or dangerous is nonsense.

But, I would also have to say.. (IMO) shoulder carry fills a "niche" more than it accommodates the needs of most people for daily carry.

I guess "give it a try" would be my best advice.

Flint.

I plan on giving it a try. I am just trying to figure out if I go for a decent setup with a less than stellar "holster" option or go all out and spend half the cost of a new gun. Sheesh, these options are expensive.

Does anyone know if there is a maker out there who does interchangeable "holsters" that all attach to the same shoulder sling unit? If I find a good system, I would hate to have to start from scratch the next time I need one...

The Galco Miami Classic will accept other holsters and mag. pouches (if necessary). All you need to do to change holsters is to release the one holster from the straps and replace it with the one you want. Same is true of the mag. pouches.

Holsters, mag. pouches, cuff cases, tie downs, etc... are all available separately. E-bay is a good source. For instance type in Galco shoulder holster, go to "MyDiscountStation". They sell a brand new MC rig for $125.00

If a person had something like a H&K USP compact, they could swap out just the holster for any other hi-cap pistol and be good to go. The mag. pouch will fit many other brands of hi-cap magazines (glock, sti, para, etc..). They have two snaps on them to adjust for the height of different magazines. They also have tensioning screws on the mag. pouch and holster to adjust how tight you want the item to fit.

You don't have to buy a whole new "rig" for every gun unless you're just looking for convenience (and have deep pockets).
