What Holster? S&W .40 Sig Series

I have a Smith and Wesson 40 caliber sig series that I am going to be carrying. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good IWB holster that is fairly cheap? I know this is kind of a big gun for concealed carry, but that is what I have to work with right now. Any suggestions would be great.

I have one of the Sigma's, and when I carry it, it rides in a Don Hume 715 series. They are usually available at the gun shows in the $25 - $30 range. They are good holsters for the price.

I seem to have an issue though I guess because of my size. I am very small guy at 5'6" and 165 pounds and I still have an issue with printing. Any suggestions???

I don't think there's an easy solution, IMO. You've got a big gun carrying on a smallish frame. I'm not a large guy myself; 5'8" & 160. I can only suggest an IWB with very loose clothing, or a jacket/vest/photographer's vest...something along those lines.

I too, wear my shirts tucked in when ever I go out. So I'm thinking a tuckable IWB. But even with an IWB tuckable, I think that my Ruger P-95 would print. Fortunately I have a smaller gun, that will be much easier to conceal, and I'll probably be carrying that.

I've heard that once somebody gets their CHL, it's a life changing event. I believe it. I'll need to learn to dress around my gun. It's just a fact of life.

I carry a SW40VE in a Crossbreed Supertuck when I need to tuck in my shirt. If I I'm wearing my shirt out, I use a holster that I made. Basic slide type holster. Both sit about 3:30/4 o'clock on my body.

You'll probably have to try a few holsters to find the one that fits you. In the end it's worth it.

Yes. Three suggestions specifically:

1. Keep in mind that holster design has something to do with it. Some holsters are less likely to contribute to printing than others, and that may vary from individual to individual. What works well for me, may not work well for you. The painful truth is that you are most likely going to buy several holsters over the next couple of years until you find the ideal one for your needs.

2. Get used to the idea of wearing slightly looser fitting shirts, and buying pants that are an inch or so larger in the waste than your normal wear if you are going to carry IWB. The looser pants is a comfort issue, but the looser shirts worn untucked will go a long way to preventing printing.

3. Quit worrying about printing altogether. It is a vastly overrated fear. The bigger issue is concealment, not printing. You either need to wear a shirt that conceals the pistol, or a jacket that conceals the pistol. Printing is not so much of an issue. Lots of people carry cell phones, PDAs, medical devices (insulin pumps, for instance), tools and knives on their belts. Consequently, there is simply no way for an observer to know with any certainty what it is that is making that bump under your shirt. And believe me, most people just aren't even that observant to even notice a bump under your shirt in the first place. So just quit worrying about printing. Strap it on, and forget about it.

Personally, I don't care what someone thinks about any bumps under my clothing. I take reasonable measures to conceal, and then I don't worry about it anymore. My concerns now are all about comfortable carry.
